GRACE CHURCH THRIFT SHOP

The Grace Thrift Shop was founded in 1949 to help raise money to build an addition to the church.  It has been manned by volunteers since the beginning.  Some have been working one day a week for over twenty years and some for over ten.  After a start in the front of an apartment on Hancock Street and four moves, we are now located at 142 East Market Street. Our hours are 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Since the beginning the store has been a consignment shop but donations are accepted.  The merchandise is: men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, jewelry, toys, books, linens, and small kitchen and other household items. We also have luggage and sporting goods. We make sure all items are clean and workable. Profits not needed by the church go to other local charities.  We have also sent money to missions in Africa and the Phillipines.  We fill a need in the community by giving clothing and other items to persons in need who are sent to us with letters from churches and organizations.Check us out! We have many unusual items and new things every day.

In 2006 the Thrift Shop was given The Lavender Award for Excellence by the Volunteer Center for exemplifying volunteerism at its best. (The Lavender Award for Excellence is given annually to a program, organization or agency in Erie County, Ohiothat has shown exemplary use of volunteers to meet social needs of the community).
